Royal Black is a striking ornamental pepper plant with greenish-black foliage, purplish-black flowers, which yield clusters of small, Pequin-like fruit. The peppers start purplish black and ripen to bright red crimson, standing out against the dark leaves. Their flavor is peppery and lightly fruity, with mild grassy notes. Use them at any ripeness stage in soups, sauces, salsa, pickled, or dried and ground for spice. Plant them with other ornamentals for a colorful edible display. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing  seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
