Mild Heat

NuMex 64 peppers were developed by the University of New Mexico. Similar to Anaheim peppers, the fruit grows about 5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The fruit has mild heat with subtle sweetness, light smokiness, crisp green Chile flavor, and a slightly earthy finish. Like other Southwestern roasting types, they are excellent stuffed, grilled, or roasted. The fruit is usually harvested green, but red ripe peppers are spicier and make an excellent choice for chili powder. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing  seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
