Medium Heat

Jalapeño M peppers were bred for larger fruit and more consistent heat. The thick, juicy peppers average 3.5 inches long and are the familiar Jalapeño type often found in grocery stores and restaurants. They offer a robust, zesty flavor that is fresh, bright, grassy, slightly vegetal, and lightly sweet. Stuff them with cheese or meat for jalapeño poppers, wrap them in bacon and grill for armadillo eggs, or fill them with sausage and grill for atomic buffalo turds. They can be enjoyed fresh or pickled and added to any dish that needs moderate heat. Red ripe Jalapeños that are smoked and dried are called Chipotle peppers. The name Jalapeño means “from Xalapa,” the capital of Veracruz, Mexico. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing  seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
