Golden Cayenne
Hot
Golden Cayenne plants produce smooth-skinned peppers, unlike red varieties, which have wrinkled skin. The fruit grows 4 to 6 inches long and matures from pale green to vivid golden yellow. Fully ripe fruit has a sharp, lingering heat with a slightly sweet, tart, and lightly smoky flavor. Popular as a bright alternative to red Cayenne varieties, the fruit is excellent for hot sauces, pickling, hot vinegar, and drying for spice. Popular with Cajun and Creole cuisine. Heirloom.
Heat level: 30,000 - 50,000 SHU

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
