Fresno
Medium Heat
Fresno peppers were first cultivated in California’s San Joaquin Valley in 1952. The upright, pointed fruit grows about 2 inches long and are similar to a Jalapeño in size and heat, but with thinner walls. Green fruit is milder and sweeter, while ripe red fruit develops deeper heat and a bright, fruity, slightly smoky flavor. Fresno peppers are popular for Southwestern cuisine, and used for salsa, sauces, stuffed or roasted dishes, pickles, jams, hot vodka, or dried flakes and powder for rubs and spice blends. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
