Early Jalapeño
Medium Heat
Early Jalapeño peppers add balanced heat without overpowering a dish. The 3-inch fruit is usually harvested dark green, when it has a crisp, slightly bitter, fresh vegetable flavor ideal for salsa, pickling, and Pico de gallo. When allowed to ripen red, the fruit loses much of its bitterness and develops a sweeter, bolder flavor. They are popular pickling pepper, and are excellent on pizza, nachos, sandwiches, and any dish that needs a moderate kick. Widely used in Mexican, Southwestern, and Tex-Mex cuisines. Bred for short growing seasons. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
