Cubanelle
Cubanelle peppers are native to northern South America and were brought to Spain in the 1500s before spreading through the Caribbean. The tapered, blunt-ended fruit grows 4 to 6 inches long and is usually harvested light green, though they ripen red and become sweeter. The crisp flesh has a mild, honey-like sweetness with a gentle warming heat. Common in Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican cuisines. They are an excellent frying pepper, and delicious fresh, stuffed, grilled, or roasted. Although classified as sweet, fruit will produce slight heat.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
