Extremely Hot

Chocolate Habanero peppers are native to Central America and are thought to be more than 7,000 years old. The wrinkled fruit grows about 2 inches long and delivers blistering heat with a deep, rich flavor marked by earthy smokiness, sweet fruitiness, and notes reminiscent of dark chocolate and dried cherries. Selectively bred for larger, heavier, spicier fruit, this variety is excellent for meats, marinades, hot sauces, salsa, mole, stews, and barbecue rubs. They are also used in traditional Jamaican jerk sauces and other Jamaican cuisine. Also known as Brown Habanero, Jamaican Hot Chocolate, Habanero Negro, and Black Congo. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing  seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
