Medium Heat

Cascabella peppers are native to Mexico and take their name from the Spanish word for “rattle.” The 2-inch, conical fruit has thick, crisp flesh. The peppers start green, turn creamy yellow, then mature through orange to red. Their flavor is nutty, zesty, fruity, lightly sweet, and tangy, with quick-building heat that fades relatively quickly. Enjoy them fresh in salads and salsa, add them to soups and stews, dry them for rubs and spice, or pickle the yellow fruit for hot dogs, pizza, tacos, nachos, and sandwiches. Heirloom.

Heat level: 1,500 - 4,000 SHU

Plant height: 36 - 48 inches

Harvest: 75 - 85 days from transplant

25 seeds

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing  seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
