Big Red Bell
Sweet
Big Red Bell plants produce heavy yields of 5-inch, blocky, four-lobed peppers with thick, juicy, crisp flesh. The fruit has a sweet, fruity, mildly savory flavor; when harvested red, they lose any grassy bitterness of the green stage and become richer and sweeter. Enjoy them sliced fresh on salads and sandwiches, or grilled, roasted, stuffed, stir-fries, or add to fajitas. Cooking brings out the fruit’s natural sweetness and caramelized flavor. Fruit can weigh more than 5 ounces. Plants produce fruit all summer. Bell peppers are native to Central and Northern South America. After being brought to Spain in the 1490s, they spread throughout Europe and Asia, then later reached North America with early European settlers. Today, bell peppers are among the world’s best-known peppers, with dozens of varieties developed for gourmet cooking and everyday culinary use. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
