Thick Cayenne
Thick Cayenne peppers are similar to Long Slim Cayenne but have thicker flesh and more heat. Prolific plants produce 5- to 8-inch, wrinkled fruit with sharp, bold heat, peppery flavor, subtle earthy smokiness, and a hint of sweetness. Thick Cayenne peppers are native to French Guiana, were brought to Europe, and quickly spread through Asia. They became a culinary staple, adding bold heat to many cultures’ cuisines. The fruit is especially useful when dried and ground into spice for rubs, sauces, soups, stews, and everyday cooking. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
