Purple Jalapeño
Purple Jalapeño peppers start green, turn purple to dark violet-black, and hold that color for an extended period before ripening red. The fruit offers medium heat with a bright, crisp, noticeably sweeter flavor than green Jalapeños, along with mild earthiness and less of the traditional grassy bite. Among the larger Jalapeño types, they add vivid color and heat to many dishes and are excellent for stuffing, grilling, salsa, pickling, hot sauces, and jellies. They can also be dried for a striking homemade chili powder. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
