Mayan Yellow Habanero
Very Hot
Mayan Yellow Habanero peppers are native to Mexico’s Yucatán region and are grown there commercially. The slender, lantern-shaped fruit grows 3 to 4 inches long and is smoother than many habanero types. It delivers pungent, fruity sweetness with tropical notes, sharp citrus tang, apricot aroma, and an aggressive upfront burn that fades relatively quickly. Popular in condiments and hot sauces, the fruit is also used in traditional Mayan and Yucatecan cuisines such as authentic xni’-pek, ceviche, pepian, and aguachile. Their bright heat and apricot-citrus flavor pair especially well with citrus-marinated seafood. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
