Jimmy Nardello
Sweet
Jimmy Nardello peppers were grown in Italy and brought to America in the 1880s by the Nardello family. The thin-walled, tapered fruit grows 6 to 10 inches long, about 1 inch wide at the shoulder, and ripens from green to bright red. Sweetest when fully ripe, the fruit offers rich, candy-like sweetness with complex fruity notes reminiscent of cherries and apples. The skin blisters beautifully when cooked, creating a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Excellent fried, stuffed, roasted, or grilled, they are considered one of the best frying peppers you can grow and is sometimes called an Italian frying pepper. The fruit looks like the Portugal Hot pepper, so if you grow both, be sure not to confuse them. Although classified as sweet, fruit can produce slight heat. Heirloom.

Did you know? Humidity can reduce the viability of pepper seeds over time, causing seeds to stagnate. That’s why every seed pack includes a silica gel packet to help keep the seeds dry and fresh. To save seeds for next year, place the seed packet and silica gel packet together in a quart-size freezer bag, seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. Do not freeze.
