The upright, tapered, conical fruit grows about 1 inch long, starting green, turning purple, and ripening to red. They offer bold chili heat with a lightly sweet, fruity flavor and mild earthy undertones. The thin-skinned fruit are excellent blistered, while dried peppers make a flavorful spice for soups, stews, and seafood. Considered rare.
